When deputies arrive at the scene they find a woman that is unresponsive. The 911 caller is the homeowner, boyfriend of the woman and a deputy as well. He tells his fellow officers that he was outside in the garage when he heard a shot. He says he ran inside and heard a second shot. He tells emergency services and the responding officers that his girlfriend shot herself after the two broke up that night. It was immediately apparent that it was his service gun that was used in the shooting. What is unclear is whose finger pulled the trigger. This began one incredibly questionable investigation. The residents of Big Pine Key, Little Torch Key, and No Name Key were frightened and rightfully so. It was believed that someone was killing females and removing their hearts. In 2004, police on Big Pine Key responded to a gruesome scene. Inside the murder house they found a double murder and a suicide. This is one of America’s oldest active missing person cases. There is much question and speculation that surrounds this still missing person true crime case. February 3rd, 2023 is National Missing Persons Day. This day is recognized annually and was created to raise awareness each for the the missing. The day was inspired by the still active missing person case of Alexandria (Ali) Lowitzer. Ali was sixteen when she went missing in 2010 from her hometown of Spring, Texas. Ali was described as five foot two inches tall, caucasian female with brown or dyed black hair and blue eyes. Many of the victims were stabbed to death. Some stabbed in a specific pattern across the upper body. With some of the victims a cause of death could not be determined due to decomposition.
