I expect I might get a little teary because my mom is not here for the first time in years, but I am going to do my best this week. I am getting to interview one of my favorite guests from the years. I have interviewed Scott Biersack, quite a few times over the 10 years of the podcast. Here are a few things I love about Scott: 1. He is willing to try new things 2. He loves learning 3. He is empathetic and hasn't had it easy, and isn't afraid to tell those hard stories 4. He is inspiring, he is willing to get dirty, and commit to practicing his craft on a weekly basis. There are many other things and he has had lots of learning and changes since we last spoke in 2018. I hope you will join me for this episode. _______________________ Follow Creativ

There is no doubt my guest this week was top on my list. Amarilys Henderson is probably my favorite Skillshare teacher. She is an author, an illustrator, an artist who sells her items in her shop on her site, but also licenses her work, she has a community, and has teaches classes on her own platform. She has had some big shifts in her teaching and her art licensing that we'll talk about. Amarilys is inspiring to me for many reasons, here are five: 1. Her faith is at the center of her work. 2. She is always trying something new. 3. She has multiple income streams. 4. She doesn't give up. She is exploring and experimenting. 5. She shares what she knows, free

Robin Landa is a professor, an author, a designer, and an inspiration. She has written over 20 books (25 I think), I use them with clients, in my creative practice, and in my research. The Lies I Need to Stop Telling Myself
29/01/2023 Duration: 53minFind full show notes at: https://creativesignite.com/the-lies-i-need-to-stop-telling-myself/ I often tell myself things I should be doing, or things I should be improving, or things I should be learning. But there are only 24 hours in everyday and we are supposed to sleep for one third of those hours. I am teaching a class about self promotion on social media. In class I asked the students how they use social media. Most stated that they consume but rarely share. If they do share it is not their design work. They said they were scattered and weren't sure what to post. One student said he posts things he is proud of. And I thought afterwards, if I waited until I was proud of something I would never post either. Social Media and self promotion like any campaign should be planned. UH OH there I go shoulding again. The question is how do I share what I am learning and not feel like a fraud or an imposter. If I tell myself I will start sharing when I don't feel like an imposter, I will probably never sta

I found her this summer and she was just the medicine I needed. She is always growing and trying new things in her art. Sandi's process really struck me because she takes limited tools out and does many variations on one scene. She takes visual notes of a place then once back in the studio on the bigger canvas she takes all her visual notes and constructs a larger painting. I know we do sketches as designers but for some reason her process seemed different and more freeing to me. She was able to explore and seems to always know something else can fix it. She doe

Sept 28, 2022. I wanted to finish this series with some of the pieces I learned the most from, as well as the ones I am most proud of. Some I am not proud of for the way they turned out but rather for the mindset shift I was able to see in how I looked at my art and what I was expecting from myself. I hope you can take something from what I learned about myself this summer. I know that connecting or rather reconnecting with making was a big struggle but implementing this as a regular practice, simply making expecting to learn, expecting mistakes, expecting less than perfect has changed me for the better. Thanks for listening to this journey and coming alongside me for this ride. You can join us live by getting on the list. Sign up to get the link at https://rechargingyou.com/signup ____
