Now, they’re drawing up blacklists of independent news outlets that should be investigated. Also, keep the phone books close, Democrats. The filibuster looks safe for now. Good news for anyone fearing the ascendant right. Plus, news broke over the weekend that Cuba’s revolutionary leader Fidel Castro--a man that CIA tried to kill hundreds of times--finally has died, but of old age. We talk to a man who knew Castro, the Institute for Policy Studies’ James Early, about what his death means for the island and for future relations with the US. And President Obama continues to show no concerns about handing over a fully-armed military state over to Donald Trump….a man he called unfit for office just weeks ago. We’ll bring you some of the latest news about US operations in Somalia.

They shouldn't be too bummed about Chuck Schumer's rise to Senate Minority Leader, however. Though he has had some questionable ties to Wall Street, Schumer sounded the alarm, after the 2014 midterm, about Dems' abandonment of working and middle class Americans. Will the party listen this time?Also, how will Washington--the city itself--deal with the Trump administration? DCist's Rachel Kurzius talked about that with us, in the latest of our weekly chats.Finally, Trump abandons a major campaign promise, to the consternation of conservatives. Looking at all the banksters Trump is considering for top posts in his administration, Wall Street couldn’t be more delighted. Also, Who’s excited about the next Census?! I’ll tell you who: hackers. A government watchdog is warning that new census technology could be vulnerable to cyber attack. And, the election is over, now it’s time for the candidates to pay for the laws they broke during it, right? We talk to Brendan Fischer with the Campaign Legal Center to go over what was one of the more corrupt elections in memory.

Senate Democrats have announced their new leadership team and committee assignments, and the two Sams play Monday morning quarterback.It couldn’t happen in Britain. It couldn’t happen in the United States. Except, the far-right recently pulled off stunning victories in both countries. Can the same happen to France next year? We talk to Cole Stangler, an American journalist in Paris to discuss the possibility of a National Front Victory in 2017.And, some of Trump’s darkest campaign promises may actually come true.
