Seafood trade with China has been impacted by tariffs, Delaney updates us on the QGS report, and she brought us a talk held yesterday at the KC Outlook Forum by Gregg Doud, Underecretary of Agriculture, and his focus is on trade. 26/09/2018Trade dominates today's headlines with the official announcement that the US and Japan are opening the gate to Bilateral trade talks, NAFTA or rather Mexico-US trade text will be released Friday, and is looking to expand some market access into China in the wake of US trade tensions. The Farm Bill is also top of mind for many as expiration nears this coming Sunday. For today's conversation, we are livening things up a bit and talking with Aaron Steele one of the founders of Goats on the Go, a goat grazing business, and their future expansions into the retail and meat industry.

The two companies featured today are DeadDock, a company working to transform how herbicides are applied on Dock weeds; and Fresh Graze, a young tech company working to improve grazing management practices. Top news for the day includes new remarks and concerns from the WTO about the USDA Assistance package and what that means for the world markets; continued rollbacks on WOTUS, and a 24 hour strike happening in Argentina. She brings up to speed on the things she learned and saw while in Ireland at the National Ploughing Championships over the last week. Some of the things were surprisingly different, others surprisingly similar. We also have a riot of trade news for today's episode - China is buying US beans again, an FTA w/ India is in the works, and the US/Mexico NAFTA replacement deal looks closer than ever. To tie in to that bit of news, we have a conversation today with Dr. Alyshia Galvez, professor at CUNY Lehman College, about her recent book "Eating NAFTA", about NAFTA's impact on the Mexican consumer. It makes for an interesting shift in the way we (Americans) typically think about trade, and our discussion could have gone on for hours!
