Mistakes are only mistakes if you don’t learn from them. Otherwise it’s a lesson In this episode I cover 5 mistakes that have helped my become a better investor. “Mistakes are only mistakes if you don’t learn from them. Otherwise it’s a lesson”. As in life, when it comes to investing you will make mistakes.  It’s inevitable.  They will hurt as the pain of a loss hits twice as hard as the pleasure from an equivalent gain. And you will continue to make these mistakes unless you consciously choose to learn from them. Write your mistakes down, build them into your stock picking strategy.  Never dismiss your strategy, as it was built through the experience of mistakes, which have become lessons. You should never worry too much about mistakes, they will make you a better investor.

In the end, how your investments behave is much less important than how you behave.” A highly regarded study led by mathematical psychologist Amos Tversky and Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman found that investors feel the pain of a loss twice as much as the joy of an equivalent gain.  They call this 'Loss Aversion', and it means that investors hate losing money far more than they enjoy gaining money. Fidelity has over $10 trillion AUM and they noted an internal performance review on accounts to determine which type of investors received the best returns between 2003 and 2013 The customer account audit revealed that the best investors are either inactive or dead.
