Saying Yes! Saying No!
16/09/2022Expectations and circumstances keep changing in today’s economic climate, and Dave and Reb understand that the word "no" is becoming increasingly important. On today's episode of "Let's Talk Money with Dave and Reb", they look at why saying "no'' to some things in life will be essential to avoid financial trouble ahead. Dave and Reb encourage listeners to be financially aware by creating spending plans to help them navigate cash flow, as the economy squeezes their finances. Navigating these personal financial dynamics alongside commitments to work, family and extracurriculars is so important. And saying "no" sometimes is also essential, so that they can say "yes" in other areas of their lives. Today's show is sponsored by More Than Enough Financial - a financial coaching, tax, and mortgage company empowering people to effectively manage their finances, while finding hope and financial freedom one day at a time. The "Not-So-Faithful" Steward
02/09/2022As we head into the long weekend, Dave and Reb discuss one of their favourite movie characters as an example of a “not-so-faithful” steward on today’s episode of “Let’s Talk Money with Dave and Reb”. Denethor is the ruling steward of Gondor in the movie trilogy The Lord of the Rings. As a steward, he leaves his responsibilities, choosing to believe the lies of his enemy. He stops leading, fighting, and standing for truth. Grief and despair reign in his heart, and he refuses to listen to wise counsel. There are many warnings we can learn from Denethor’s example of stewardship, and Dave and Reb encourage listeners to consider his example, as well as to seriously understand their roles as managers of God’s resources. Tune in and hear their discussion. Coveting or Content?
26/08/2022On today’s episode of “Let’s Talk Money with Dave and Reb” the co-hosts tackle a heart-issue money topic. Coveting is perhaps an issue we don’t usually discuss in our daily lives, but God warns us about how coveting, greed, and jealousy can lead us down dangerous paths in our hearts, in our finances, and in our relationships. Dave and Reb discuss what this looks like, and how it comes right up against our desires for contentment. In Hebrews 13:5-6 God says: Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Tune in today’s show as Dave and Reb discuss how God’s presence meets our deepest needs. Listen Carefully
19/08/2022Today’s topic on “Let’s Talk Money with Dave and Reb” was inspired by a quote from Chris Anderson, the head of TED TALKS, in his book TED TALKS — The Official TED Guide to Public Speaking: “When people aren’t prepared or ready to listen, communication can’t happen.” Dave and Reb speak about listening carefully on today’s episode and challenge our thinking about communication. Even God challenges His people to listen carefully to Him in Isaiah 55. They want you to consider how well you are listening to God, and to others, especially when it comes to spending money. A Story of Hope with Patty Grose
22/07/2022Hope can be hard to find in the midst of illness, tragedy, and challenging life circumstances. But hope is exactly what Dave and Reb’s lifelong friend Patty Grose shares with listeners on today’s episode of Let’s Talk Money with Dave and Reb”. Her story is one of loss, and is lined with a strong message: make sure you have a will and estate plan in place. After losing her husband suddenly, she and her seven-year-old daughter were left to grieve and carry the responsibility of a family-owned business. The will they were putting in place was not finalized by the time he died, and this propelled them into a myriad of obstacles, challenges, and lessons in the months ahead. Add to that, a cancer diagnosis, and Patty would need to lean into the Lord like never before. Listen to Patty share her story of sorrow, hope, love, and God’s provision in the midst of these circumstances. Go to willful.co for more information. to find out more about online will planning. Rates, Mortgages and Inflation
15/07/2022There is a lot of concern over inflation and interest rates in the Canadian economy, but on today’s “Let’s Talk Money with Dave and Reb” the co-hosts want to encourage listeners to take some time, breathe, and consider the historical context for interest rate fluctuations. Good Talk, Bad Talk with Rev. Ray Borg
08/07/2022Are money conversations always a good idea? That is the question Dave and Reb tackle with monthly guest Rev. Ray Borg on today's episode of "Let's Talk Money with Dave and Reb". In all their podcasting years, Reb is sure they have never talked about "unhealthy" money conversations, and in light of growing economic uncertainty, they are hearing more and more money words that are stirring up strife and fear. Tune in to hear their words of encouragement based in Scripture, and their heart to see listeners focusing on the hope of Christ. In reference to a quote shared on the podcast, here is a portion from John Fenn, leader and pastor of Church Without Walls International: The Lord's provision may not be what we'd always like. For some it may be multiple generations living under the same roof to save money. It may not be seen as the highest and best solution, but it will be the Lord's provision for many. People will need to start gardens to supplement their groceries - yet that may be the Lord's provision. Discip

While these past years have come with difficulties and challenges for Canadians, Dave and Reb encourage listeners on today's "Let's Talk Money" to take a deep breath today and pause to celebrate! On this day when so many communities are celebrating with barbecues and fireworks, they encourage listeners to be intentional about setting aside time to give thanks. One minute you can be thankful for what's in the bank, the next minute you think there is never going to be enough. Provision in the Wilderness
10/06/2022Rev. Ray Borg joins Dave and Reb today on "Let's Talk Money with Dave and Reb" to talk about the provision Israel received from places of slavery through the desert and into the promised land. The same provision they received in ancient times is the same provision available to us. God made known his ways to Moses, and his deeds to the people of Israel, according to Psalms 103. Building an Emergency Cushion
27/05/2022One of the key tools in the More Than Enough debt-repayment tool belt is an emergency cushion, and on today's episode of "Let's Talk Money with Dave and Reb", the co-hosts give direction on how to build a cushion so we don't need to turn to credit in emergencies or crisis. Doing this exercise means we will live on less than we make, and then capture that “extra” money and put it in a separate account over a three-month period. When unexpected expenditures hit, we are then prepared to draw that money out, instead of using credit. To learn more about building the cushion, tune in to today's show which is sponsored by More Than Enough Financial - a financial coaching, tax, and mortgage company empowering people to effectively manage their finances, while finding hope and financial freedom one day at a time. Financial Decisions as Spiritual Decisions
20/05/2022What would it look like if you had stress-free nights, where you didn't worry about how you were going to pay the next bill, or where you were going to get the money to pay your taxes? Dave and Reb tackle some of these thoughts and questions on today's episode of "Let's Talk Money with Dave and Reb".
