Kelley Rogers, a PhD research scientist who took a 14 year career break, relaunched at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), where she is now Technical Program Director for Biosciences. Kelley talks with Carol about how she kept up with developments in her field during her career break, and how a volunteer role ended up as the basis for a personal reference that was an important factor in her relaunch.

Carol speaks with clinical psychologist and Chicago Bulls Performance Coach Dr. Wendy Borlabi about how she builds trust with her pro-athlete clients and advice she gives them that is also relevant for relaunchers. A relauncher herself, Dr. Borlabi explains how keeping a “toe in the water” during her 14 month career break led to her relaunch with the Bulls.

Doerscicle provides healthcare and insurance solutions at no cost. This unique model operates primarily in Asia. It has not yet come to the U.S. We are intrigued by this model for U.S. freelancers and get an early glimpse of what it looks like in action in this conversation with Helle. We estimate 30% of our relauncher community is interested in freelancing, entrepreneurial ventures and less than full time contractual work arrangements.
