  • The brain, body, and emotional components of TBIs w/ Christine Altom

    03/05/2021 Duration: 36min

I am a TBI survivor, stay-at-home mom, author of the blog "Beacon of Hope: A Resource for Holistic Healing from Traumatic Brain Injury," and an avid cyclist with a background in exercise physiology. In 2012, a distracted driver hit me while I was riding my bike. I sustained numerous injuries, including a concussion. The concussion quickly became trigeminal neuralgia and post-concussion syndrome and the symptoms forced me to abandon my Ph.D. program. After almost a year and a half of mismanagement, two surgeries on my head, and countless different injections and medications, I was fortunate to find treatments that led to my recovery. Since then, I sustained three more TBIs, one of which was accompanied by two intracranial hemorrhages. In those cases, I was able to use what I had learned the first time around to fully heal in a short period. Now, I believe I am healthier than I’ve ever been and hope to share what I’ve learned with as many people as possible. https://beaconofhopetbi.com/   Episode brought
