Believe - Metaphors of Believing | Eating the Bread of Life
20/02/2019 Duration: 36minOne of the most profound metaphors that Jesus uses to describe himself and belief in him is that of his being “the Bread of Life.” In using this metaphor, Jesus is indicating to us that we have the kind of God who is deeply invested in providing for His people throughout their journey. For bread is not a means of creation, but of sustenance, and God knows that we are built to be sustained by Him all throughout our lives. And to that point, Jesus is also using this picture to remind us that to be human at all is to be a dependent creature--we are designed to need nutrients from outside of us just as we are designed to need God himself. In calling himself the Bread of Life, Jesus is calling us to depend on, and abide in, him.

They discuss how Advent is a season of waiting and how, biblically speaking, waiting is expectant hope mixed with inward groaning. Ben and Damein discuss what makes waiting difficult and how our current cultural mood works against our growing in biblical hope.
