There is a scarcity mindset in our world telling us we don't have enough, we haven't done enough, and we don't measure up enough. Of, we need to hoard and monopolize whatever resources we can so they don't end up in the hands of someone else. This is not the way for followers of Jesus. God's abundance generally doesn't arrive in our preferred ways, but there is a fullness available to God's people even in the scarcest of times. Scripture: Exodus 16:16, 19-20, John 6:54

As the fragility of the nuclear and biological family becomes exposed from the pressures of life, we are invited to expand our view of our brothers and sisters. God, in Christ, is growing a new human family with many arms available to one another to catch us when we fall and provide support in our journeys. Just as Jesus has moved toward each of us, we move toward one another in love. Scripture: Matthew 12:45-50, Mark 10:29-30, John 1:12-13

The table Jesus prepares for us is an ongoing invitation to allow the heaviness of our hearts to experience a taste of joy and relief. Although our hearts can often draw back from living within the hope of the story of God's promise of rescue and never-ending joy, the mysterious presence of Jesus at the table bids us welcome. The end is the ongoing feast of which we are invited to taste and experience even now in moments together at Jesus' table. Scripture: Psalm 16

Being present with the brokeness (material and immaterial) in our own bodies and the bodies of others is a difficult thing. But we have a God who entered our broken humanity to be in solidarity with us. Will we honor his presence with us in this brokenness and allow him to be at home with us in those broken places? Even there, he is holding us until the coming age of full renewal. Scripture: Psalm 139:7-10

To be human is to long for relational communion, and the essence of Christian communion is delighting in others for who they are as God's image bearers, not for what they can offer us. In this teaching, we explore the beautiful communion of the Trinity (Father, Son and Spirit) welcoming each of us into their communion of delight so we can share this with one another. This movement in our lives is essential to the healing and repair of the world in which we're often invited to not delight in others and to even remain in hostility with others and seeing them for only what they bring to us. Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 11, Genesis 3, Isaiah 40:27

In a world filled with trouble, we're reminded of the promise of hope that has been shown to us in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and one day will fully be present among us. At the Lord's table we're reminded pain and promise are odd dance partners, but we're called to presently live in this tension. For whenever we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim the Lord's death (pain, death and sorrow in the human experience) until he comes (hope and promise). Will we root ourselves in the love of God enveloping us at all times so we can keep soft, generative hearts even in the midst of our hearts sometimes being paralyzed, calloused or condescending? The epistle to the Hebrews was written to people living in a liminal space of having to think and act in new ways. Many today are realizing they are being invited to live and act in new ways in the midst of a chaotic world. As the writer of Hebrews reminds us, here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. So, let us go to Jesus outside the camp. Scripture: Hebrews 13:12-14

In Psalm 40 we hear of the psalmist delighting to do the will of God. Needless to say, there's always a lot of talk about the will of God for one's life. In this teaching we wrestle with the truth of God's will simply being our daily surrender and choice of delighting to keep open, soft, and receptive hearts whatever the path before us. This is what it means to be alive to God.  What new discovery is God inviting me into here as I walk this path before me? Scripture: Psalm 40:1-8, 17

As we continue in Peter’s second letter, he tells us of a world pregnant with the patience of God. God's love of his created world will lead him to rescue it, and those who choose to live presently in the love of God while growing in the righteousness of God await a day of the Lord in which all will be laid bare and made new. We begin our exploration of Peter’s second letter, where he invites followers of Jesus to share in God’s divine nature. This participation comes through the precious faith granted to them by the righteousness of Jesus, and it culminates in mutual affection and self-giving love for others. We're often impatient on our way to becoming something new. Yet we have a God of loyal love who never wanders from us even though we often wander from him. Our loyal love can be like the morning dew, here for a moment and then dissipating. The loyal love of God displayed to us in Jesus is good news to receive and invites us into movements of steadfast love, too. Scripture: Exodus 34:6-7, Hosea, Ruth

We're often impatient on our way to becoming something new. Yet we have a gracious God who is continually meeting us with his favor and delight. As recipients of this grace on our journeys will we also become people extending this favor and delight with others? Scripture: Exodus 34:6-7, Ephesians 2:1-10

We're often impatient on our way to becoming something new. Yet we have a compassionate God who is deeply moved toward us just as a mother toward her child. Will we receive this compassion on our journeys in order to be renewed and also to share that compassion with others? Scripture: Exodus 34:6-7
