Synopsis

This is the place where the world discusses indoor air quality, the built environment and disaster restoration issues. Every Friday at noon ET the show is live. The shows host are Joe Hughes, President of IAQ Training Institute and Cliff Zlotnik, President of Microban Systems. Every week we interview experts from the indoor air quality, building sciences and disaster restoration industry. As instructors for IAQ and disaster restoration training programs and active participants in industry associations we have the credibility and contacts necessary to bring top industry experts as guests on the show every week. The show is designed to help promote education and communication for industry professionals and consumers in need of assistance with IAQ, built environment and disaster restoration issues.

    Dr. Catherine Noakes, PhD, CEng is the Director of Pathogen Control Engineering Institute at the School of Civil Engineering, University of Leeds. She is also the Leader of Aerobiology and Infection Control Research Group at the University of Leeds. The Aerobiology and Infection Control Group is a multi-disciplinary research team comprising microbiologists, engineers and mathematical modelers. The group has considerable experience in evaluating bioaerosols in indoor environments and engineering measures to control infection. Their Research is driven by the continuing problem of hospital acquired infection and the worldwide health concerns about infectious diseases spread through airborne routes.     Larry Carlson joined Therma-Stor in 1992 as product manager for ventilation and dehumidification products. In 1994 Larry introduced the Phoenix 200, the first LGR dehumidifier. Through 2003 he oversaw the expansion the Phoenix Restoration Equipment product line to include the Guardian HEPA Systems, Focus axial air mover and Phoenix 300 and 200 MAX. After 2 years at Dry Air Technology where Larry assisted in the creation of the Atlantic LGR and Force9, he returned to Therma-Stor in 2006 as marketing manager. Currently Larry is the Phoenix Restoration Industry Manager and International Sales Manager. Larry has been a member of RIA since 1994 and the IICRC since 1998. He participated in the creation of the Applied Structural Drying Technician (ASD) certification and is currently serving on the IICRC S-500 Consensus Committee which is creating the 4th edition of the S-500 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration.

Mr. Kahane received a B.A. in Physiology and an M.P.H. in Biological and Environmental Health Sciences from U.C. Berkeley. He has been a practicing Certified Industrial Hygienist for the past 18 years. Mr. Kahane provides technical expertise and litigation support for asbestos, heavy metals, fungal and other IH-related exposure cases. He performs and supports industrial hygiene and indoor air quality investigations for a variety of commercial, industrial, insurance, military school and residential clients. He has performed and is well versed in various analytical methods including optical microscopy, XRF and AAS/ICP. Mr. Jacobs has accumulated 38 years of experience in the environmental and safety & health profession. Mr. Jacobs developed gas chromatographic analytical methods, and validated some of the initial uses of diffusion-based sampling and analytical methods for air contaminants, as a Chemist for the U.S. Army. He also developed industrial hygiene policy documents and standards for the U.S. Army.     Dr. Alice Delia is Laboratory Director at Prism Analytical Technologies, Inc. in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She manages Prism's Data Analysis Group and is the technical lead on all of Prism's air testing products, as well as in the analysis and interpretation of all test data. Dr. Delia received her B.S. in Chemistry from Kalamazoo College, and her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of Colorado.
