Synopsis

This is the place where the world discusses indoor air quality, the built environment and disaster restoration issues. Every Friday at noon ET the show is live. The shows host are Joe Hughes, President of IAQ Training Institute and Cliff Zlotnik, President of Microban Systems. Every week we interview experts from the indoor air quality, building sciences and disaster restoration industry. As instructors for IAQ and disaster restoration training programs and active participants in industry associations we have the credibility and contacts necessary to bring top industry experts as guests on the show every week. The show is designed to help promote education and communication for industry professionals and consumers in need of assistance with IAQ, built environment and disaster restoration issues.

    This week on IAQ Radio Bud Offermann returns to discuss new research on E-Cigarettes, ventilation and more. Mr. Offermann has over 25 years experience as an IAQ researcher, sick building investigator, mitigation planner, healthy building design consultant, expert witness, technical author, and workshop instructor. He is president of Indoor Environmental Engineering, a San Francisco based IAQ consulting firm. Under Mr. Offermann's supervision IEE has developed both pro-active and reactive IAQ measurement methods and diagnostic protocols.     At the Healthy Building Professional Summit the Z-man did a great presentation titled An Indoor Environmental Professionals Guide to Fire Damage Restoration. It opened a lot of peopleâ??s eyes and reminded us that Cliff was a pioneer in the fire restoration world. After reviewing our archives we realized he had never been interviewed on this issue and here we are. Mr. Zlotnik is a 40 year veteran of the cleaning and restoration industry and President Emeritus of Microban Systems. Cliff is often times referred to as the Godfather of the disaster restoration industry and was a pioneer in development of cleaning products equipment and techniques for the industry. This week Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana hosted I3R2 the 10th International Conference of the International Institute for Infrastructure Resilience and Reconstruction where conference delegates from North America, Europe, Asia and Australasia met to collaborate on better practices to prepare and execute effective disaster response.     Dr. Charlene Bayer is the Chairman and Chief Science Officer at Hygieia Sciences, founded to commercialize her technology for detecting human diseases from breath and her indoor air quality research. She is a Senior Research Fellow for Materials and Healthy Buildings at USGBC, a member of the USGBC EQ TAG and IAQP pilot credit workgroup, as well as the past Vice Chair of the USGBC Research Committee. Additionally she is a Principal Research Scientist at the Georgia Tech Research Institute. Over the last 30+ years, her research has spanned the gamut of the indoor environment.
