Paul Tobin was raised in rural New Zealand. He applied for Wellington Polytechnic’s School of Design 3 yr program and was rejected twice. He was also rejected by Christchurch Polytechnic at the same time which led him to doing volunteer archaeology and travelling the world whenever possible. This lasted for a little under 4 years when Paul came back to art. After developing his skills further, Paul Tobin landed a job a Weta Workshop and has since then worked on films like Avatar, Ghost in the Shell, Hercules, Hobbit trilogy, The Adventures of Tintin, Chronicles of Narnia, King Kong and many more. It just shows again that hard work, dedication and constant learning can get you far in life and many of the detours along the way often becomes our advantage later on. Please enjoy the interview. Eliza Ivanova is a Bulgaria born artist and mother to a 3 year old daughter. She is currently working as an animator for Pixar Animation studios with credits that include Coco (coming out this year), The Good Dinosaur, Inside Out, Monsters University, Brave, Cars 2, Toy Story of Terror and The Dam Keeper. Arthur Fong is 29 years old and a PRODUCTION DESIGNER for Chris Appelhans upcoming film the Wish Dragon. Usually an artist in animation works for a while before getting a chance at art directing then if he art directs well on about 3 or 4 films, he might possibly get a chance to become a production designer. Arthur has become a production designer is less than half the usual amount of time. His credits also include Croods (which he did the cover and back cover of the art of book) and Kung Fu Panda 3.

Often the problem isn’t having the potential to become a great artist, but instead it’s procrastination. Bobby Chiu gives his answer in this short video. Share it with the artists in your life.

Starting off wanting to become a stuntman as a teenager and later finding his passion for story in animation, John Hoffman is now a story artist at Pixar Animation Studios.
