As a child, Cárcamo has always been very interested in art and was fortunate to have started his creative endeavours at a young age. His art career has spanned the industries of advertising, journalism, literature, children's books and animation. He has gained wide recognition for his watercolor techniques and has graced many major newspapers and magazines in Brazil, Spain, and Chile. Many people recognize his work from children's books. Self-taught from an early age, Marko began work as a professional illustrator since he was 17. As a child he was unaware that artists used photo-referencing to produce work and assumed they worked only from their imagination. Because of this assumption, he taught himself to draw without the use of photo-referencing.
