  • D1 Expansion, MLCA Michigan, and much more with Coach John Paul

    12/03/2021 Duration: 55min

D1 expansion is one of, it not the most, talked about topics in all of lacrosse. JP joined the guys on this weeks pod to explain how it works. What's the hold up? No matter how bad we want teams to go D1, the sad truth is that for most schools it doesn't make fiscal sense. In fact, if you have a football team on campus adding a men's program becomes increasingly difficult. Having an exceptional club team like Michigan and Utah did wasn't the deciding factor, it was money. In Utah's case it took an actual multi-millionaire to help push the program through. Of course, he didn't do it alone, but lets not pretend this happens with out his help. Utah was the latest Power 5 program to go D1 What's More Likely? I asked JP straight up, "what's more likely to happen first, the addition of one power 5 men's team, or the addition of 5 mid majors". He swiftly answered 5 mid majors. More D1 Expansion JP has an extremely informational thread about D1 expansion pinned to his twitter feed. Be sure to listen to the episode to

    26/02/2021 Duration: 48min

Coach is fresh off, I mean kind of, a national championship season with the Gamecocks. Being the 2019 champs means they are still, technically, the reigning national champions, eventhough he doesnt like to think of it that way. Having been a UMBC grad under legendary coach Don Zimmerman, coach Harkey knows what it takes to build and maintain a high caliber program, and I have no doubt USC will do the same. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/lax-all-stars/message

  • EP 43: Gerry Byrne, Harvard Renewed

    19/02/2021 Duration: 59min

When you are the preeminent university in the world, success is the standard. However, as of late, Harvard's lacrosse program hasn't matched the university's illustrious education. https://embed.acast.com/5c6dce2547d66b5d77eaee95/602ebd99e17bc010d64c9131?cover=true&ga=false Enter Gerry Byrne. Well known in the lacrosse world as a defensive guru and elite recruiter, he's more than ready to right the ship. Coach Byrne spent the better part of two decades molding the nations top defenses at Notre Dame. I dont know if he has a green thumb, but his fingerprints are all over the PLL Redwoods and their defensive identity. Why Harvard, and why now? Gerry always seemed to be a candidate for any high profile job over the past decade, but a combination of things kept him in South Bend. Now that all of the Byrne children are post university, it made the most sense to pursue a head coaching position, and what better place to start than at Harvard. https://twitter.com/ByrneCrimson/status/1359147931065016323 To compar

  • EP 34: Anish Shroff - A Driving Voice

    15/01/2021 Duration: 53min

This week we have an absolute treat for you. His voice is immediately recognizable to anyone who has watched championship weekend over the past decade or so, but that's not what defines him. Anish Shroff is much more than a broadcaster, he's a father, a friend, a husband, and a proud Syracuse grad. Based on his story, it's completely reasonable to say he didn't choose lacrosse, lacrosse chose him. Our conversation with Anish was insightful, educational, and just an overall treat. Lacrosse fans can rest easy knowing that he, amongst others (Paul Carcaterra and Quint Kessenich), are the voices of lacrosse. Last Week Eli Gobrecht is the product of D3 Ithaca College, and he’s damn proud of it. His time at Ithaca prepared him, although be it through an untraditional path, for life as a pro lacrosse player. In this week’s episode, he sits down with the guys from Going Offsides to discuss what it’s like being a “full-time” professional player and what exactly that means. Later in the show, Eli talks about the D1 or
