When Jacob comes back to Bethel after wrestling with God, he was limping. The process and struggle of life is leading you to an encounter with God.

What appetite are you allowing to rule your decisions right now that have the potential to re-write the story God wants to write through you?

We're put in our families, our workplaces, our neighborhoods, our schools and even our churches so that we can influence others for Jesus. We might be given incredible opportunities to do great and big things fo God at times, but we also might be called to just walk about. To just live our lives right here, right now, right where God has us.

The goal for each and every one here today is that you would settle the issue of ownership, authority and control in your life. There are three powerful truths from this passage of scripture today that if embraced will settle this issue once and for all in your life.

What would it look like if our community abandoned our own view of God and began to live out God’s truth in worshipful lives rather than just when we worship.

The Lord is in charge of those who are in charge.

Jesus is not just offering a one-way love. That is true that He offers love, but He offers something much greater then the knowledge and comfort of this incredible love. Jesus is offering a relationship with you today. Will you return His love? And in doing so will you be restored, to the glory of what can be the most amazing relationship you’ve ever experienced?

Pastor Shane shares that part of our calling is to re-open the scriptures to the world and live them out in a way that makes sense and draws people to the truth. Truth means nothing if not lived out.

We need to come to know the Bible not as laws and history, psalms and prophecy, but as God's authoritative revelation of himself. If we can do this, the end result will not just be that we will be educated; we will be transformed - godly people living holy lives committed to imitating and serving the God we have come to know through the Bible.

For all of us, there was a time when we didn’t fully understand who Jesus was. And if we’re honest, sometimes we are unsure, even now. That’s the beauty and complexity (and, at times, the difficulty) of faith. It’s having hope and confidence in unseen things that we cannot prove. And yet, billions of people over he course of the past two thousand years have reached the conclusion that there is something special about Jesus. That he was no ordinary man. How did they come to that conclusion?
